Local need

Many plots owned by families, villages or institutions are unproductive or degraded. Owners need a design that suits the soil and water, while neighbouring farmers want to see a working example before trying it on their own land.

Aim

Build farms that restore land and produce food and income, and are open to the community as places to learn.

Who takes part

Landowners and managers, farmer groups, young people and women living near the farms.

Activities

  • Diagnosis of soil, water, vegetation, access and manager capacity.
  • Layered farm design: perennials, food crops, spices, habitat, and livestock or fish where carrying capacity allows.
  • Nursery, planting and maintenance with the farm manager.
  • Open days, short apprenticeships and visits from farmers in nearby villages.
  • Records of yield, costs and labour to judge feasibility.

Who does what

  1. Satisfarm (Hasbi Foundation)

Land diagnosis and design, nurseries, manager training, community support and grants for village partners.

  2. Landowner

Agrees goals, use rights, benefit sharing and the day-to-day manager.

  3. Nebula Sustainable Commodities

A separate market partner that can buy part of the high-value surplus under agreed terms.

What we track

  • Ground cover, number of species and plant survival
  • Food harvested and surplus sold
  • Manager labour and maintenance costs
  • Participants trying the practices on their own land

These are the things assessed during the programme, not verified results. Results are reported after delivery and checks.

Ways to collaborate

  • Private landowners, villages and concession holders.
  • Waqf administrators (nazhir) for productive endowment land.
  • Community organisations and social enterprises building learning farms.
